Cold-formed metal stud wall top track consists of two 18-gauge tracks at the top and bottom with two 18-gauge studs. A diagonal kicker brace made from two 3-5/8 inch 18-gauge studs is installed at a 1 to 1 diagonal ratio across the room corner as required. Studs and tracks are connected together using number 8 screws at 12 inches on center on each side and at the top and bottom. Maximum span without a kicker is 16 feet, and maximum length of the kicker is 12 feet. Alternate bracing designs stamped by a registered engineer in the project jurisdiction may be submitted for review and approval.
