This interior partition head detail utilizes a deflection track attached with anchors at the top of cold-formed steel studs. The gypsum board remains unattached to the deflection track to accommodate structural movement. Multiple layers of five-eighths-inch gypsum board are fastened to both sides of the studs, with fire-rated assemblies specifying a base layer applied with one-inch Type S drywall screws and a face layer applied with one-and-five-eighths-inch Type S drywall screws at twelve inches on center. The stud cavity is filled with acoustics insulation, and joints are caulked and sealed air-tight on both sides at the top and bottom. Ceilings abut the partition per reflected ceiling plan types and heights.
