A six-inch by forty-three mil continuous sheet metal backing plate spans a minimum of three studs within a metal framing wall assembly. Two number eight pancake head self-drilling screws secure the backing plate at each stud location, with fasteners staggered at double studs. A maximum half-inch dimension is maintained typically for fastener placement.
