An eight-inch expansion joint bridges adjacent insulated-core metal wall panels supported by steel girts. The joint assembly utilizes an ethylene propylene diene monomer water barrier suspended beneath an extruded aluminum sub channel. A one-eighth-inch bent aluminum cover plate, painted to match the wall panels, spans the joint and is secured with gasketed fasteners. The assembly provides a one-foot six-and-one-half-inch total exterior wall cover based on Balco Incorporated model 9W-8.
