A concrete walk features an expansion joint with a one-half-inch felt expansion joint material and a one-half-inch sealant on top with tooled one-quarter-inch radius edges. Number five smooth dowels, twenty-four inches long, are placed at twenty-four inches on center and wrapped with a bond breaker on one side across the joint. The concrete walk slab is reinforced with six by six, number ten by number ten welded wire mesh, which is discontinued at the expansion joint. A control joint with an X-over-four deep saw cut and a one-eighth-inch width is provided over a ninety percent compacted subgrade.
