A diagonal wall brace is anchored to the non-bearing steel stud wall top track and secured overhead to the building structure. The three-and-five-eighths-inch by eighteen-gauge diagonal wall brace features clipped flanges formed into shoes at each end and is installed at a forty-five-degree angle. At the top track, the brace is secured with three screws on each flange. Overhead attachment provides two options: fastening four screws into the lowest portion of the corrugated metal deck without penetrating the roofing, or attaching to the bottom chords of the open-web steel joists. Alternatively, a deep leg track or clip angle can be used with four powder-actuated fasteners.
