This architectural detail shows connection options for ceiling wires anchored to a gypsum board wall assembly. A 1 inch by 1 inch by 12 gauge by 3/4 inch clip angle fastens to a 362S137-33 minimum backing stud using a number 10 by 1-1/4 inch sheet metal screw. The backing stud spans a minimum of two wall studs and secures to each wall stud with two number 10 by 1-1/4 inch sheet metal screws. The metal stud framing is twenty gauge minimum with gypsum board attached using two number 10 sheet metal screws. Ceiling wire is tied with four tight turns in one inch typical.
