A continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep-leg deflection track is attached to the concrete floor or roof slab at twelve inches on center maximum. The steel studs are left unattached to the deflection track within the specified upper zone, and instead receive a continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal strap for top attachment of the studs. Sealant is applied at the partition head joints on both sides. Gypsum board is kept clear of the deflection track in this designated movement area.
