This assembly consists of a vertical metal stud wall framing a recessed light cove. A 1/2-inch fire-retardant treated plywood strip is mounted to the horizontal framing to provide a mounting surface for the LED light fixture, which is specified per electrical drawings. The cove edge is finished with gypsum board over metal studs, with a 4-inch horizontal offset and an 8-inch vertical clearance for the light fixture. The bottom of the acoustic ceiling tile and the bottom of the soffit are set at elevations indicated on the reflected ceiling plan.
