A slotted track for a shaft wall connects to a continuous steel plate bearing against the underside of a structural steel beam flange. The continuous steel plate is secured to the beam flange using number 12 fasteners spaced at sixteen inches on center or powder-driven fasteners spaced at twenty-four inches on center. The shaft wall framing features gypsum board layers on both sides of steel studs with internal cavity insulation. Fasteners secure the top track components at sixteen inches on center.
