This one-hour fire-resistant wall head detail interfaces a steel-framed gypsum board partition with an overhead structural steel beam supporting a fluted steel deck and concrete floor or roof slab. The structural steel beam is completely encased in sprayed fire-resistive material, which also fills the flutes above the beam. A continuous twenty-gauge formed Z-clip with two-inch legs attaches directly to the bottom flange of the beam at a maximum spacing of sixteen inches on center. A continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track connects to the Z-clip at a maximum spacing of sixteen inches on center, leaving the specified slip zone where gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the track. Mineral wool insulation fills the gap between the sprayed fire-resistive material and the top of the wall. Spray-applied firestop material is applied to each side with a minimum one-half-inch overlap at the gypsum board and the deck. Continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal straps attach the gypsum board to the strap at a maximum of eight inches on center.
