This assembly features a deep-leg slotted track secured to the underside of a metal deck with number ten self-drilling screws spaced at twelve inches on center. The screws are fastened at the bottom of the track slots to allow for vertical deflection, and gypsum wallboard is left unfastened to the track to maintain the slip connection. For fire-rated partitions, the metal deck flute is filled with minimum four pounds per cubic foot mineral wool batt insulation, which is cut approximately thirty-three percent larger than the flute area and compressed into place. Fire-rated sealant is applied to both sides of the wall, extending at least one-quarter inch thick to cover the mineral wool and overlap onto the gypsum wallboard.
