About this detail

Cable tray and cable bundle penetrations pass through rated partitions with specific firestopping measures and size limits. The upper detail shows a cable tray passing through an opening filled with two-inch thick by eight-inch wide by five-inch deep fire blocks, with voids filled using firestop sealant. The lower detail shows a cable bundle routed through a steel pipe sleeve with firestopping sealant applied around the opening and forced into spaces between cables, forming a one-quarter inch crown lapped over the sleeve. Allowed cable types include telephone, fiber optic, coaxial, and power cables within specified size and area percentage limits.
