This stair railing detail is constructed with one and one-half inch by one and one-half inch hollow structural section steel tube vertical posts spaced at a maximum of forty-eight inches on center unless otherwise noted, anchored above a steel channel stair stringer. A one and one-quarter inch nominal pipe size steel pipe handrail of schedule forty minimum is mounted on five-eighths inch diameter steel bar support brackets attached at each vertical post. The top rail consists of one and one-half inch by one and one-half inch hollow structural section steel tubing, with all railing connections and intersections welded and ground smooth. Intermediate rails maintain clear spaces of less than four inches with equal divisions, aligned above the stair tread and riser line.
