This assembly consists of one and one-half inch outside diameter steel pipe rails supported by handrail brackets as specified in the rail section. The handrail terminates with a return to the main post, where the pipe ends are plugged, leaving a one-quarter inch gap, and all welds are ground smooth. One-half inch diameter steel baluster rods are spaced at four inches on center maximum and are welded at the top and bottom to the steel pipes. The railing system is designed to maintain a maximum five-foot on center spacing for posts and ensures that openings remain less than six inches in diameter.
