A 1-1/2 inch diameter metal handrail, field-painted per interiors, extends past the top riser with a minimum 1 foot clearance. A 3/4 inch bent anchor is welded to the handrail and centered on a 3 inch by 3 inch by 1/4 inch mounting bracket. The bracket is attached to the wall type as scheduled using two 1/4 inch drilled-in expansion bolts spaced at a maximum of 48 inches on center. The return handrail maintains a 1/4 inch clearance from the wall, positioned above the stair tread noising below.
