This plan detail shows surface-mounted corner guards protecting the exterior gypsum board corners at a metal stud wall jamb. The assembly consists of standard steel jamb studs framed within gypsum wallboard layers on each side, with batt insulation filling the cavity. Surface angle corner guards are attached over the finished gypsum board corners to prevent impact damage.
