A one and one-half inch outer diameter steel pipe handrail is mounted to a wall finish using a handrail bracket with concealed fastening spaced at a maximum of six feet on center. The bracket connects to a sixteen gauge metal backing plate referenced in detail seventeen on sheet D6. A metal spacer is positioned between the bracket and the wall surface, with a one and one-half inch clearance from the line of the wall finish to the outside of the handrail. The pipe end features a steel plate cap ground smooth, detailed in the end plan view. The top of the handrail is set at two feet ten inches to the toe of the tread.
