This double stud partition wall assembly features two parallel rows of metal studs separated by a one-inch minimum clear air space. Lateral stud bracing is provided as required without rigid cross bracing between the stud rows. Cavities are filled with acoustical insulation. The outer layers consist of one layer of one-half-inch fire-retardant treated plywood backing, one layer of one-half-inch Homasote, and a finish layer of one layer of gypsum board on each side.
