A sewer main pipe enters a concrete manhole base through a resilient flexible connector, providing a watertight, movement-accommodating seal between the pipe exterior and the manhole structure. A smooth transition between the pipe inside diameter and the manhole base flowline ensures proper hydraulic performance. The manhole base rests on a layer of drain rock.
