Cold-formed steel joists bear onto bearing wall tracks sized per plan or schedule. The exterior end condition requires a minimum one and a half inch bearing with a piece of stud of the same gauge as the joist fastened with four number twelve by three-quarter-inch screws to the joist and a closure track. The interior condition requires a minimum three and a half inch bearing with an eight-inch-long piece of joist of the same gauge fastened with four number twelve by three-quarter-inch screws.
