Concrete slab-on-grade assemblies feature a concrete slab over twelve inches of ninety-five percent compacted fill placed per the soils report. Construction Joint A utilizes smooth dowels centered in the slab with one end wrapped in grease or oil, installed at maximum seventy-eight feet on center with a schedule specifying dowel sizes and lengths for six to eight-inch slab thicknesses. Contraction Joint B includes one-eighth inch tooled edges and a formed depth of one-quarter of the slab thickness with a one and one-quarter inch minimum. Contraction joints are to be perpendicular to construction joints with spacing not exceeding fifteen feet, aligned with building wall panel joints where possible.
