All gypsum board layers required by the rated assembly wrap continuously into the recessed opening around the accessory. Acoustic insulation and joint sealant fill the cavity and seal joints as indicated on the plan. Component continuity is maintained to preserve fire and acoustic ratings across the penetration. Penetrations into shear layers follow structural engineering requirements, with notification required if widths exceed specified stud spacings.
