A gypsum board soffit is framed with 3-5/8 inch 20-gauge metal studs spaced at 16 inches on center, backed by additional 3-5/8 inch 20-gauge studs spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center attached to the deck. Five-eighths inch gypsum board is fastened to the metal studs with bugle head self-drilling drywall screws spaced at 12 inches on center and finished with a corner bead. The adjacent scheduled acoustical ceiling and grid is suspended by hanger wire with a minimum clearance of six inches.
