This assembly features a concrete curb adjacent to a concrete walk with a thickened edge. A one-half inch expansion joint separates the walk from the curb, and all exposed edges are finished with a one-half inch radius tool. The curb has a six-inch top width and sits on a base of aggregate base and asphalt concrete, with a total depth of eighteen inches minimum. The walk thickness is determined by the project plans, and the curb is positioned with an eight-inch wide thickened edge at the joint. Expansion joints are required at sixteen feet on center maximum, as well as at all curve tangents and corners.
