A partition head condition is oriented parallel to a metal deck profile for a UL-listed firestop system. A top track connects below the metal deck with a one-inch vertical clearance dimensioned from the framing. Gypsum wallboard layers attach to both sides of the metal stud framing, terminating below the deck edge with joint protection. A linear firestop system seals the gap between the partition top track and the underside of the fluted metal deck.
