A roof drain assembly integrates into a wood roof deck with surrounding framing and insulation. A cast iron drain strainer with a dome and a two-inch overflow dam ring sits atop a drain sump pan, which is underlaid by spray polyurethane foam. Non-curing sealant is applied to all sides of the membrane termination at the pan. Two-inch wood blocking is secured with threaded fasteners, and the membrane is ripped as required to match the height of the insulation. The roof vapor retarder is sealed directly to the drain bowl, and the vapor retarder jacket is sealed to the roof deck. Below the roof, a no-hub connection with stainless steel clamping prongs secures the piping, which is covered with pipe insulation.
