Vertical cold-formed metal studs are stabilized laterally using continuous top-span bridge bars or cold-rolled channels. Each channel connects to the studs using clip angles such as TSN BC600 or L2x2x16 gauge sized to stud depth minus one inch minimum with two number ten self-tapping screws each face. Two number ten self-drilling screws secure each channel to the clip angle typically. Additional blocking is located on each side of the stud with one number ten self-tapping screw at each end when in conflict with mechanical, electrical, or plumbing services occupying stud space.
