The metal stud bottom track bears directly on a concrete topping finish floor and is fastened to the underlying slab with 0.177-inch diameter low velocity powder-driven fasteners spaced at 12 inches on center with a three-quarter-inch minimum embedment. Five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board is applied to both sides of the metal studs with stud sizing determined per the SSMA table. The gypsum board is held back one-quarter inch at the floor intersection and sealed airtight with acoustical sealant behind the wall base. Insulation is installed within the stud cavity where required.
