This one-hour fire-rated head of wall joint assembly features a rated gypsum board partition constructed with minimum three and five-eighths inch studs and a deflection track positioned beneath a structural floor slab and beam with spray-applied fireproofing. Mineral wool forming material is installed flush to adjacent surfaces within the joint. A spray-applied fire sealant is applied over the mineral wool with a minimum one-half inch overlap on adjacent surfaces. The assembly accommodates movement up to twenty-five percent compression or extension with joint dimensions up to two inches maximum.
