An HSS 6x6x1/4 hollow structural section post extends down through a finish slab into a twenty-four-inch square or circular concrete footing. Four one-half-inch diameter welded studs are welded to the tube near the base and embedded within the concrete footing. A closure plate caps the top of the hollow structural section post. The finish slab bears on the thickened concrete footing with a three-foot depth to the footing bottom and three inches of concrete cover below the post.
