A structural steel column is enclosed within a protective concrete base at the parking level. The assembly features a typical three-inch clearance between the outer face of the fireproofed steel section and the perimeter of the concrete base. Spray-applied structural steel fireproofing coats the profile of the column beneath the concrete encasement.
