The suspended gypsum board ceiling assembly is supported by number 12 hanger wires spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center, with exposed wire painted by the general contractor as required. Number 16 gauge galvanized tie wire saddle ties secure the components as recommended by the manufacturer. One-and-one-half-inch main channels span at a maximum of 4 feet on center. Furring channels run perpendicular to the main channels at a maximum spacing of 24 inches on center. Gypsum board is fastened to the underside of the furring channel grid.
