A non-rated metal stud partition terminates below a structural steel beam supporting a concrete over metal deck assembly coated with spray-on fireproofing. The partition utilizes a deflection track with 2-1/2-inch legs, which is fastened directly to the underside of the concrete deck using powder-actuated Hilti X-U fasteners spaced at 24 inches on center with a 1-1/4-inch minimum embedment per ESR-2269. The deflection track gauge matches the wall stud gauge, and gypsum board is secured to the studs below the deflection track. Batt insulation fills the stud cavity of the non-rated partition, and the deflection track is secured to each stud on both sides with number 10 sheet metal screws.
