A hollow structural section post is anchored to the roof framing below, with post heights varying to provide a level surface for the continuous steel channel and equipment attachment plate above. The top of the hollow structural section boot is cleaned with membrane cleaner before the installation of a preformed boot flashing. This flashing is secured with a minimum of four manufacturer-specified fasteners and plates around the hollow structural section edge, with full-adhered peel-and-stick flashing lapped three inches onto the boot. Edge sealant is applied typically around the base of the flashing, which sits atop the roof membrane and rigid insulation. The roof membrane and air and water barrier are lapped under the flashing assembly.
