The assembly is constructed over a mud slab topped with a pre-applied waterproofing membrane. A sheet waterproofing membrane runs continuously up the exterior of the concrete pit wall and is secured at the top with a continuous one-inch-wide termination bar sealed with liquid membrane. A waterstop is embedded at each below-grade construction joint in the floor slab. The pit slab is sloped one inch toward the sump and designed per ASME A17.1 paragraph 2.1.2.3. An elevator sill support angle and hoistway partition align with a pit ladder positioned on the centerline.
