A one-half inch thick closure plate caps the top of the steel column. L4 by 4 by 1/4 inch angle braces are positioned at the deck bearing on each side of the column and extend to the nearest joist or beam. These angles are secured to the column with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. Typical roof deck attachment to the angle is required per structural drawings.
