A metal stud partition terminates at a concrete floor slab with the gypsum board stopping one-half inch above the floor level. Backer rod and sealant fill the joint at the base, utilizing white smoke and acoustic sealant at non-rated partitions or red fire sealant at rated partitions. The metal track is secured directly to the concrete floor, and vertical studs are fastened to the track with one sheet metal screw on each side of each stud.
