This assembly consists of six-inch sixteen-gauge minimum metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center extending to the underside of the deck with three-and-a-half-inch insulation installed between them. The work area side features five-eighths-inch abuse-resistant gypsum board up to eight feet above finished floor, transitioning to standard five-eighths-inch gypsum board continuing to the underside of the deck. The opposite side has continuous five-eighths-inch gypsum board running from the floor to the underside of the deck. Both sides are sealed to resist the passage of smoke, achieving an STC rating of 52.
