This assembly details a mechanical duct penetrating a stud-framed gypsum board partition. The annular space between the duct and the gypsum board is limited to a maximum gap of one-half inch. This gap is sealed on both sides of the partition with acoustical joint sealant to maintain the acoustic integrity of the wall. Acoustic blanket insulation is installed within the wall cavity surrounding the duct penetration. The duct is supported by hangers on either side of the partition wall.
