A 3-5/8 inch by 18-gauge diagonal wall brace is installed at 8 feet on center to restrain a non-bearing steel stud wall. The top of the brace features a clipped flange forming a shoe fastened with four screws into the lowest portion of the corrugated metal deck without penetrating the roofing, or alternatively attached to the bottom chords of a joist. The bottom of the brace connects similarly to the top track of the non-bearing steel studs using a clip flange fastened with four screws. Additional attachment options include using a deep leg track or a clip angle.
