An elevator car door sill sits at the edge of a concrete floor slab supported by a structural steel beam, with a shim space located beneath the sill flange. A sill guard extends downward adjacent to the partition system and the line of the car. The assembly maintains a five-inch dimension from the partition system to the edge of the sill, and a one-and-one-quarter-inch dimension across the door assembly.
