An acoustical wall assembly terminates at a deflection track below a concrete slab allowing vertical movement while maintaining sound attenuation. The gypsum board extends to one-half inch below the top of the deflection track with a controlled joint gap. Acoustic batt insulation fills the void above the wall partition, and acoustic sealant is applied on both sides of the assembly at the track interface.
