Steel pipe guardrails and handrails are anchored into concrete landing and ramp slabs using a two-inch diameter by twelve-inch long steel pipe core insert. Vertical steel pipes of one and one-half inch diameter are spaced at six feet zero inches on center maximum, with number four reinforcing bars at twenty-four inches long placed at posts on each side. Horizontal rails consist of one and one-half inch galvanized steel pipes spaced at approximately five and one-half inch increments. A secondary handrail of one and one-half inch steel pipe is attached with a bracket welded to the vertical pipe where required. All exposed steel is galvanized and all welds are ground smooth.
