A pinned buckling-restrained brace connection occurs at the concourse level adjacent to a structural column with a column cover. A delegated design structural buckling-restrained brace features a casing and terminates in a pin connection supported by a gusset plate. The structural column is protected with spray-applied fire-resistant material, while the gusset plate is finished with intumescent fire-resistive material applied when the connection is less than twelve inches from the adjacent column. Exposed bracing members at the concourse level are specified as pinned connections meeting architecturally exposed structural steel category three standards. Finish flooring assemblies are coordinated at the base per finish plans.
