A metal pipe passes through a concrete or concrete masonry unit wall assembly utilizing a metal sleeve where required by contract documents. An annular space is maintained per the rated assembly, filled with fire-rated sealant and packing to the depth required by the rated assembly. For masonry construction, the gap around the sleeve is filled with cement mortar. The penetration achieves a maximum three-hour rating following UL C-AJ-1017 or equivalent standards.
