This plan detail shows the fire-rated architectural framing condition where a glulam column meets an exterior wall assembly. The connection incorporates three-and-five-eighths-inch metal studs, backer rods, and fire sealant with a UL assembly pending determination. One layer of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board is installed pre-construction, backed by a matching post-installed layer of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board. The exterior wall assembly continues per schedule past the timber structural column.
