A steel column connects to a steel beam with a gusset plate assembly supporting a buckling-restrained brace. A solid yellow paint coat is applied to all exposed surfaces of the gusset plate and connection up to the end of the brace outer tube. Each side of the gusset plate is stenciled with the text "PROTECTED ZONE NO ATTACHMENT PERMITTED" in a two-inch Arial bold font centered within the available space. The black font paint and yellow coating colors are coordinated with the architectural specifications. The font is scaled down to fit if the marked area is too small for the standard text size.
