This roof expansion joint assembly spans between adjacent steel beams supporting a 1 1/2-inch metal roof deck topped with rigid insulation and single-ply membrane roofing. Two-by-four pressure-treated wood nailers flank the joint opening, secured above two inches of fiberglass insulation filler. The joint opening features a continuous neoprene closure spanning the gap below a foam rod sized one and a half times larger than the expansion joint. The single-ply roofing membrane extends up and over the foam rod to maintain a watertight seal across the joint.
