A two-hour rated horizontal shaft wall assembly per NER-258 is constructed with two layers of 1/2-inch Type C gypsum wallboard and one layer of 1-inch gypsum wallboard liner panel on 6-inch studs. The runner track is set in a deflection channel, with metal studs left unfastened to the deflection channel. Voids above the gypsum wallboard are filled with UL-approved safing and finished with a UL-approved coating. Gypsum wallboard layer counts are coordinated per the scheduled partition type.
